Shroom with a View Ep. 53- Breaking open the head at the Iboga Foundation

Welcome to Ep 53 of the SWAV podcast. We join Nexus deep in the Dutch countryside at the Iboga Foundation.

Iboga is an African plant which can stimulate the nervous system when taken in small doses and induces visions in larger doses; Iboga sessions can last as long as 3-4 days. Iboga is used in the initation rite of the African Bwiti religion but has also been found, in the Western context, to have remarkable properties to treat addictions in people.

We speak to Sara Glatt a very experienced practioner of Iboga and founder of the Iboga Foundation. We also hear from someone who has been treated with Iboga, is continuing learn about iboga and is helping to practically support the foundation’s work. Also, we are lucky enough to joined by someone who was been treated with iboga at the time. This person is on the third day of their iboga session in order to combat years of addiction. We at SWAV deeply thank these three people for spending time with us, in the spirit of openness, honesty and friendship that they did. Nexus was deeply touched by the experience.

This is a very personal podcast which formed two natural sections, one of more formal interview and a second of chatting and exchanging ideas. There are some challenging ideas represented here and people are encouraged to continue the discussion about iboga on the SWAV forum at www.thegrowreport.com, where we’ll post some more links and video on the subject.

The music which breaks up the show is Bwiti harp music played during the initiation ceremony. The background music, while Nexus and Co-Host are talking comes from, Elysium and can be found in here: http://www.ektoplazm.com/2011/elysium-various-works

We’re sure their fantastic music will feature in several more shows.
